Transitive Establishes Technical Advisory Board
Los Gatos, Calif. – March 15, 2005 – Transitive Corporation, the leading provider of software that enables transportability of applications across multiple processor and operating system pairs, today announced the formation of a Technical Advisory Board (TAB). Transitive’s Technical Advisory Board consists of senior executives and external technical experts who will provide Transitive’s management team with expert technical and engineering management advice. The members of the Technical Advisory Board bring to Transitive a broad range of technical knowledge, as well as vast management and entrepreneurial experience that will help the company to maximize the market potential of its QuickTransit® product line. Transitive’s QuickTransit® software technology allows other application software that has been compiled for one processor/operating system to be run on another processor/operating system without any source code or binary changes. The members of Transitive’s Technical Advisory Board are: Ashfaq Munshi, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Radiance TechnologiesAshfaq (Ash) Munshi brings over 20 years of entrepreneurship, engineering, marketing, and management experience to the advisory board. In addition to Radiance, Ash has founded three other Silicon Valley companies: Vivecon (where he currently serves on the Board), SpecialtyMD (which was acquired by Ventro), and Commerce Engine (which later became Ariba). Previously, he has held senior management positions at Applied Materials (where he headed the company’s software division), the Enterprise Business Unit at Silicon Graphics (SGI), and Oracle Corporation. Ash is on the Dean’s Leadership Council for the Division of Applied Sciences at Harvard University, where he frequently lectures about entrepreneurship and start-ups. He also has a strong background in compilation technologies. Hans van Rietschote, Director in the Advanced Technology Group, VERITAS SoftwareHans van Rietschote has more than 25 years of management experience in Advanced Technology, software engineering research, and embedded software product development, amongst others, at various companies including Lucent, AT&T, Philips, and VERITAS Software. Hans has an extensive track record in building “bridges” between companies (often across countries), and between software technology and business. He has written and published several articles on telecommunications and computers, and has over 15 software patents in his name. John Mashey, Consultant for Venture Capitalists and Technology CompaniesJohn Mashey is “an ancient UNIX person,” having started work on it at Bell Labs in 1973; he continued to work there for 10 years. Since then, John has held various management positions in software and operating systems and architecture development at Convergent Technologies, MIPS Computer Systems, and Silicon Graphics. Additionally, he is a guest editor for IEEE Micro, and one of the long-time organizers of the Hot Chips conferences. He has also chaired various technical conferences on operating systems and CPU chips, and has given more than 500 public talks on software engineering, RISC design, performance benchmarking and supercomputing.
